Now when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, she came to test him with hard questions.
~ 1 Kings 10:1
Sheba is a place then. That's right! The familiarity of its name is the reason why I borrowed this book in the first place. Did it pique your interest just as I have? Keep on reading to find out more. ;)
About the Book
This novel is an action-packed thriller mixed with romance and ancient intrigue. Facts and fiction are cleverly intermingled together.Think Indiana Jones (okay, I haven't watched that movie yet) or an adventure story with two opposing parties racing against each other to search for an ancient tomb. Both sides looking to uncover the hidden mysteries of ages past that lay buried within the dead.
Who You'll Meet
You will be following these four main characters in the story: the Queen of Sheba (from 10th century BC), Omar (the Israeli Undercover Agent), Alem (the Ethiopian who wants to find out who Omar is) and Jade (the American student).Four lives, four stories that intertwine with each other. Yes, it even transcends time. No, I'm not talking about time travel. How come? Well, you'll have to read 'Finding Sheba' by H.B. Moore to find it out yourself. Get your copy here.
Finding Sheba Book Review
I love how the author writes the story in great detail. She took me to places I've never been to. In her autobiography, it was mentioned that she lived in the Middle East for quite some time. It'll make you wonder which places are real and which are made up! Crazy, huh?
This is the first book I've read from the author and I'm impressed by her writing skills. I'm fascinated by the fictional world she created. She's good at mixing facts and fiction. It's hard to draw a line!
I also like that she gave a romantic flavor to the story.
Let the waterworks flow!
Are you highly sensitive? Someone who is easily given to emotions? If you are, better prepare your roll of tissues nearby. You'll need them, especially towards the end.In my case, the story moved me. The waterworks happened!
Spoilers ahead!
I hate sad endings. I'm sure I'm not alone on this! It's all Disney's fault! They sell 'happily-ever-afters' to immature minds. :P The ending disappointed me. It's tragic. Boo!The author could have at least allowed the Queen and her lover to consummate their marriage. I feel bad for her! I also don't like the manner of how her lover is killed.
He's a hero who'd fought successful battles yet he died by a freak of nature? Come on! At least the author could give him a hero's death. Nope, I wouldn't tell you how it'd happened, you'll have to read the book for that. :P
Also, the middle part of the story is a bit dragging and boring, though this book is of a thriller and action genre. Overall, the story is entertaining.
RATING: 4/5
