Winter Beauty Routine 2020 + The Face Product That Help Me With My Winter Skin Issues

My wintertime skin here in Ottawa, Ontario is dry, tight, and flaky like an apple suck of its moisture. I didn't change the beauty routine I did for winter last year (when I was still living in Austin, Texas) because I thought I'll do just fine with it in Canada's freezing temperatures. Well, my skin protested.

Thankfully, it has never been easier with the help of the world wide web. No longer do we have to wait that long to get the answers because we can easily access them at our fingertips.

Wait! Isn't it too late now that Spring will be upon us in a few days? Well, it'll still be cold here up north so I'll stick to this routine till my skin is content again with the moisturizer and serum tandem.

So here's my winter beauty routine in 2020 plus the face product that helped me with my winter skin issues. Scroll down.

Winter Beauty Routine 2020

  1. First, I remove my makeup using Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water. I'm a stay-at-home mom. I don't wear makeup every day except on our weekend family dates and Sunday church services. This makeup remover effectively erases makeup, particularly where it's the hardest -- on the eyes. I've actually been using Garnier's micellar water for a while now. See the product review I did on 2016 here
  2. I then wash my face using Cetaphil Extra Gentle Daily Scrub. This is hands down my favorite facial wash of all time! I love the gentle micro-fine particles scrubbing my face during washings. The skin felt smooth and thoroughly clean.
  3. Next, I apply cleanbeauty's Witch Hazel Soothing Facial Toner. When I was pregnant with our little love, the birthing center I go to recommend using natural/gentle products on the body. This is because our skin absorbs whatever we put on them which can reach the developing baby inside the womb. I ask them for suggestions, a which hazel facial toner is one of them. I stuck with it since. This is the actual product I use back then.
  4. Proceed with a Facial Serum application. For nighttime use, I use a Vitamin C serum. It promises to brighten the skin which is beneficial to women who are always burning the midnight oil. With long term use, it helps build collagen and tightens the skin. Vitamin C serums are a little expensive though so I buy mine at Winners. Here's another alternative. For daytime use, I use the Olay Anti-Wrinkle 2-in-1 day cream + serum. Sometimes I add in the Olay Mist Hydration essence before applying the anti-wrinkle cream.
  5. Face oil is a product I've incorporated into my beauty regimen to address my winter skin issues. When I saw it online, I knew I had to have it. This is what I'm currently using.
  6. And of course, a beauty routine wouldn't be complete without applying moisturizer. I'm currently using Olay Total Effects 7 in one anti-aging moisturizer. Olay holds a special place in my heart because when I was poor (like literally) back in the Philippines, I couldn't afford to buy them. I always saw them on tv commercials and thought to myself, "One day I'm going to be able to afford them." I'm grateful I can now. ;)
  7. Lastly, I apply Neutrogena's Hydro boost gel-cream on the eye area.
