The first city we landed in crossing the US border from Canada is Detroit, Michigan. We checked in at the hotel 30 minutes before midnight after our stop at Immigration.
'Twas surreal! After 3 years in Canada, we're finally back in the United States of America. We were supercharged for the looooong drive ahead. According to Google Maps, it takes about 28 hours to drive from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada to Austin, Texas, USA. The husband probably did more. Check out our Canada - US Road Trip to Home Itinerary here.
Given our tight schedule, we don't have the liberty to explore downtown on foot. We did drive around for a little bit before heading to our next stop which is the Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.
Oh, I would have loved to see the art deco inside the Guardian Building.
Where we Stayed?
Hilton Garden Inn Detroit Downtown Michigan. If you stay downtown, you have to prepare cash for valet parking.
What did we get to see?
- Downtown Detroit
- Facade of the Guardian Building. I did catch a glimpse of the art inside. Just a little bit.
