Review: Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor

What factors influence your purchasing habits? Me? High on my list are the popular bloggers. Haha. I know I shouldn't point fingers when I'm solely responsible for my wallet.

Whenever I recognize the products they use on the shelves while grocery shopping or surfing the world wide web, I wouldn't hesitate to add them to cart.

Why? Simply because my desire to look like them is stronger than my wish to practice self-restraint. (Oh geez, my wallet needs help.)

Sure, most of what they promote may be paid for by companies coveting to reach a wider audience. That's just how business works. And I didn't care. I wanted my hands on whatever these distinguished ladies have so long as I can afford them. Are we on the same page?

How are you going to discipline your instinct to splurge when you see picture after picture of fashionably clothed dames modeling the next big thing on your social media feed?

Truly, it's hard to resist the power of suggestion strengthened by repeated screen time. Indeed, this is a pretty effective strategy studied by professionals out there.

I can attest to this. Proof? I bought three colors of the Revlon Ultra HB Matte Lipcolor lipstick. Yep, three! I'm a case study of an easy peasy marketing target. Haha.

If you're reading this, you're probably in that zone but smarter. Rather than giving in to impulse you're scouring the web to check reviews before taking the plunge. Good job!

I hope I'd be able to deliver what you're looking for from this review. Here's what I think of the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor. Scroll down.

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor Review

Pros
  • Lots of color options to choose from. My picks are the ff. (left to right from the photo above): 600 HD Devotion, 645 HD Forever, 610 HD Addiction
  • Pretty matte finish as promised.
  • Nice packaging.
  • Affordable. I bought mine for less than $10 USD each. Another reason why I bought three. XD
  • Pleasant smell.

Cons
  • Color doesn't last long.
  • Drying effect.
  • Made my lips peel.
  • Color transfers to cups and other surfaces.

Had I been a wise, I would have bought one lip color from this product line and see how I like it first before paying for two more. Oh well, let's just charged it to experience.

What I Think

Personally, it's not worth it. I'm not pleased with the drying effect and the lip peeling despite moisturizing with a lip balm or vaseline.

Overall I'd rate the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor a 2/5.

Have you used the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor? How do you find it? If not, how about you try one lip color from this line first and see how it works.

But if you think you'll consider the thoughts of a stranger you chanced upon the online, stick with tried and proven brands like MAC Cosmetics.

The latter may be expensive for $20 USD per lipstick but you are guaranteed a high-quality product compared to buying cheaper alternatives then tossing it after a number of applications. Don't misunderstand, there are good drugstore products too but the can be a hit or miss.
