Second Trimester with Our First Baby

If you've been pregnant, how far along were you 'til you've transitioned from wearing regular clothes to maternity clothes?

I'm still trying to dig in my closet for clothes I could squeeze in. I got this Cotton On leopard print dress from way back. I love this brand, unfortunately, it's a bit expensive to buy here in the US. Thank God, this dress still fits!

Increased Appetite

My baby bump started to be noticeable around the second trimester. Along with it goes an increase in appetite. It's troubling to pack so much in just a few short weeks. Blame that on Krispy Kreme! :P Which means, I'm oversupplying my caloric needs per day! As I've mentioned in my previous post: 5 Things To Do When You Find Out You're Pregnant, the recommended total weight gain for pregnant mommas with normal weight pre-pregnancy is around 25-35 lbs.

As of writing, I only got .5 lbs left to reach 125 lbs! :|

Sleep

Now that baby's bigger, sleeping on my back is no longer an option. Thank God, I'm a side sleeper! As the uterus gets bigger the weight of the uterus presses on the major vein that returns blood from the lower body to the heart. Lying on your back for an extended period of time could make you feel dizzy. It could also interfere with the flow of blood and nutrients to the placenta and your developing baby. Sleeping has never been the same now that I'm pregnant. Aside from waking up in the middle of the night to pee, I've also experienced back and muscle pains early on. Um, I need support! Praise God for Leacho Snoogle Total Body Pillow, this total body pillow is a sleep saver! Moderate core exercises also help. Make sure to consult your doctor/midwife if it's safe for you to do so.
